Objectius: Vestibular schwanoma originates in the discal portion of the vestibular superior and inferior nerves in the internal auditory canal. Other nerves can be damaged: facial, cochlear. Clinicaly tests can evaluate and diagnose them, for example:auditory brainstem reponse (ABR), electroneuronography (ENoG), caloric test and vestibular evoked myogenic potencial (VEMP) shown alterations. Because magnetic resonance (MR) imaginig is the gold standart test in diagnosis of vestibular scwannoma the role of audiovestibular examinations in evaluated by retrospective study.
Method: We will present 56 pacients, 29 men and 27 women. Their ages ranged from 21 to 79 years (mean 50). All patients had pure tone audiometry done, videonystagmography (VNG), auditory brainstem response (BERA), electroneuronography (ENoG) and vestibular evoked myogenic potencial (VEMP) and magnetic resonance. Results: The VNG showed alterations in the caloric test canal paresis and arreflexia in (61%) of patients. EnoG schowed affectation of nerve in the (37%) of cases and ABR was abnormal in (93%), VEMP dissappeared or very modified in (97%)of studied patients. Conclusions: This study shows the advantage and the disadvantage of differents of audiovestibular test and compares the results between them. VEMPs have a great sensitivity and also find an affect
