Basic Cochlear Implant Instructional Course

(under auspices of the European Academy of Otology and Neurotology - EAONO)

Speakers: T. Klenzner, E. Offeciers, L. Sennaroglu, A. Zarowski

AIM:

The course is aimed at colleagues who have just started a CI program or intend to do so and do not yet have much clinical experience.

In several seminars (Seminar Hall D), participants will receive a clinically oriented overview of the field of CI with many practical examples and the opportunity to interact with the speakers. The individual lectures will cover the following topics:

Basic Cochlear Implant Instructional Course I- Developing a CI Service the clinical perspective (Klenzner et al)

Basic Cochlear Implant Instructional Course II- Basic Surgical Steps: Incision, Mastoidectomy and implant Bed, Posterior tympanotomy, Electrode insertion and fixation with video presentations (Zarowski, Sennaroglu et al)

Basic Cochlear Implant Instructional Course III - Preoperative Imaging Work up in CI (Offeciers et al)

Basic Cochlear Implant Instructional Course IV - Basic Surgical Steps: Avoidance and management of surgical complications (Klenzner, Zarowski, et al)

Participants who attend all seminars in this series will receive a certificate of participation in the Basic Cochlear Implant Instructional Course organized under the auspices of the European Academy of Otology and Neurotology (EAONO) at the 7th World Congress on CI in Emerging Countries.
