Carlo Zini was professor and head of ORL in Parma University. He was one of the otologist leaders of the second part of the XXth with several brilliant pupils and fellows including Pr Mario Sanna.
Carlo Zini had an innovative spirit with original development in Otology (tuboplasty, ossiculoplasty, Parmatymp, canal wall reconstruction, chemical dissection...). He also was a pioneer in otoneurological surgery promoting microvascular decompression in CPA.
His dexterity transformed a middle ear surgery as a show and the surgical report as work of art. His conviviality had the magnificent of the Italian style, but I stayed a hard and demanding worker. Despite such a brilliant career the end of his life was isolated and sick man.
We express to his wife, Wilma a «grande dame” our deepest sympathy and recognition.
